Mirinda Climer Wins Big

Magic Valley Speedway dropped the green flag as Fox 14-KMVT brought another night of racing to the Magic Valley Speedway. In the Brennan’s Carpet Super Stocks it was an emotional night for Mirinda Climer #25 and the Rebel Racing team. Climer knew that she had a fast car when during practice she layed down multiple lap times that were close to the track record. And with solid confidence she qualified 1st and very close to a new track record. From that point on Climer exhibited the strength of her car as she was able to lead every lap of both the heat and the 30 lap main. And after a trivial 2013 rookie campaign, just 4 races into her second season, Mirinda Climer was finally allowed to pull off the rookie stripe from the back of her #25 Brennan’s Carpet Super Stock, and although Climer isn’t technically a rookie, it was a right of passage that her team made her earn. “I told her before the season started that she couldn’t take the stripe off until she had the hardware in hand” said Dale Miles, father and car builder of the 25 and 5 cars.

It’s been a rough start to the 2014 season for defending state champion Dan Pehrson #72, but after putting a new engine in the chevy they were able to come out competitive and were fast from the first practice. The Mtn Dew Late Model 35 lap main event started off good for Pehrson, who started the race in the 2nd spot, after 12 laps of battling door to door with the #5 of Jason Abbott, Pehrson was able to take the lead on the top side of turn 2. Unfortunately for Pehrson, the #7 of Kris McKean was too fast and took the lead from Pehrson several laps later. After Mckean gained the lead the caution flag flew when the #73 of Shannon Shirley, the #22 of Jerry McKean, and #72 of Pehrson went 3 wide into turn 1 causing the #22 to spin out on the top side. After the restart Kris McKean was able to drive off and take home the win. Dan Pehrson held on for his first top 2 of the season and Shannon Shirley had another good run by finishing in the 3rd spot.

It was the #4 Trey Manker show Saturday night as he completed the sweep in the Quale’s Electronic Jr. Stingers double mains presented by KMVT-Fox 14. And Greg Sparky Sparks was able to win his first race in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Thunderdogs main event.
