June 22, 2013

In their second appearance of the season, the Intermountain Outlaw Modified’s came to battle at the Magic Valley Speedway. It was Shelby Storoebel who would come away the victorious.

Although Stroebel won for the second straight time, it was a more competitive race this time around. Jentry Pisca, driver of the #20 Modified, stuck to the back bumper of Stroebel, as the two worked their way through the field. Although Pisca was able to drive under Stroebel a couple of times, he was unable to make the pass and take the win. One of the best battles of the night came towards the end of the race when the #25 of Abe Carter, made his way to the back bumper of Rick Fowble in the #98. After battling it out for the last 10 laps Carter, made his way around and took home a tough fought 3rd place finish. Caitlin Stroebel finished in the 5th spot, to round out the top five.

It was another stellar night of high performance and hard racing for the MVS' feature division Commercial Tire Superstocks, as two cars came off the track on the hook and Dan Pehrson claimed his third win of the season. The first caution of the night came out when Casey Pehrson went around in the turn one wall, ending his night. The second caution of the night came out when Willie Dalton and Shannon Shirley got together on the exit of turn four.  Shirley pounded the outside wall with enough force to cause another trip to the track for the Marky's SuperTow Service.  After the drop of the green flag for the restart, it was all Dan Pehrson from there as he went on to win the race over second place finisher Willie Dalton. Daniel Shirley, Allen Williams, and Tony Phernetton all rounded out the top five.

After watching his dad win the Superstock main, it was then Mitch Pehrson's time to shine as the Brennan's Carpet Streets Stocks rolled onto the track for a 30 lap main event. The race started off as exciting when Mirinda Climer and Elijah Fiscus got together in the entrance of turn 3 sending the #25 into the dirt. The battle of the night came in the middle of the 30 lap main, when the #52 of Harold “The Terminator” Wartluft, battled with the #18 of Mitch Pehrson. The two of them went door to door for the next 5 laps before Pehrson was finally able to take the spot, driving in the second groove. For Jeff Peck in the #14 car, it was yet another good run as he finished in the top 2 for the third straight week. Jay MacDonald in the #33 car was able to score his first top five since returning to the track with a new racecar, after destroying his primary car, earlier in the season.

Traveling with the Intermountain Outlaw Modifieds this weekend, the Project Filter Pro-4's took to the track at the Magic Valley Speedway for the second time this season. Joe Barton driving the #58 took his second win, in as many races, at the MVS during the 2013 season. Ken Chandler gave Barton a good run but fell short in the end to finish the race in 2nd place.  Kevin Winders, Ryan Bailey, and Jeff Snethen, rounded out the top five for the night.

And finally, it was yet another exciting night of action for the O'Reilly Auto Parts Thunderdogs as Chad Everett, won the main driving White Lightning, followed by The Hulk and The Five-O.
