We packed the house on Fan Appreciation Night!!

By DJ Everett

This past Saturday the fans came out in the car loads as it was free admission to the main grandstand on Fan Appreciation Night compliments of Extreme Staffing & Payroll!  The action didn’t disappoint either!!

The Denny’s Minis would be the first main event of the evening as they would double up on main events for the night.  The green flag would fly and Robbie Hyde would take command of the field.  He would have company right away as Jeremia Eden, Amanda Haye, Katie Hatch, and Hannah Hatch would make it a 5 car race for the lead.  Eden would jump to the outside and then switch it back to the inside and pass Hyde for the lead.  Hyde would now have to deal with Haye for second.  Haye would try a couple of times up high and unfortunately lost the back end of the machine sending her to the infield grass.  Up front it was all Eden as he stretched out his lead and took it to the checkered flag over Hyde who was able to grab second by a couple of inches over Katie Hatch.

The Extreme Staffing and Payroll Double Deckers would be next for their main event.  This one would be a barn burner as the team of Mike and Kylie Ith would lead from the drop of the green but would have to deal with the teams of Zach Rydalch/Slade Fisher and Chad Everett/Roy Boots throughout the entire race.  The three teams would run in close quarters for most of the race and as they came around turn 4 heading for the checkers it was a 3 wide battle for the win to the line.  Mike and Kylie Ith would win it by a nose over the other two teams.

The Cactus Pete’s Streets made an appearance onto the speedway for their main event.  Pole sitter Joshua Cuff would lead the field through turns 1 and 2 at the drop of the green but Tim Powell would jump to the outside coming off of turn 2 and would be scored as the leader at the end of lap 1.  Powell now had to deal with multi time winner in 2019 Levi Rider.  A quick yellow flag for Mike Miller who lost power in turn 4 and on the restart, Rider was able to put it underneath Powell heading down the backstretch and now found himself as the leader.  For the remaining laps of the race, Powell was able to somewhat close back in on Rider but it wasn’t going to be enough as Rider found victory once again in the Cactus Pete’s Streets.

The Denny’s Minis made a return to the speedway for their second main event of the night.  At the drop of the green, the Little Rebel Amanda Haye would be the early leader.  Katie Hatch from Pocatello would soon close in on the rear bumper of Haye and battle for the lead.  The two would run side by side for the number one spot for many laps before Hatch would be able to jump out in front for the lead.  Haye would remain in striking distance but a multi car tangle coming out of turn 4 involving Robbie Hyde, Jeremia Eden, and Sophie Carter would put the field under a red flag.  Hard hits between the three cars but all of the drivers would be able to climb out of their machines.  Back under green and the battle would resume between Hatch and Haye for the top spot.  Haye would give it a shot on the high side of Hatch in turn 4 but Haye’s car would wash up towards the wall and would have to fall in behind.  Haye would stay on the rear bumper of Hatch but Hatch would be the first across the line under the checkers.  This would be Katie Hatch’s second victory of the year at the 1/3 mile oval and would give an emotional speech in victory lane.

The Pro 4’s would take the stage next.  Utah’s Kevin Winders would lead the field on lap 1 but Ryan Bailey would be able to get by Winders for the lead and stretch his lead out by a half a straightaway over Jordan Harris and Kenny Chandler.  Harris and Chandler would have a great battle for 2nd when the yellow flag flew for Jessika Harris who was stopped on the infield grass on the backstretch.  This would bunch the field back up and when the green flag flew once again, Harris would be able to jump to the high side of Bailey.  The two would run side by side for a lap until Harris would be able to wrestle the lead away from Bailey and would start to pull away.  At the checkered flag, Jordan Harris would pick up the win.  Chandler would be able to get by Bailey on the final lap to bring it home in second.

The Magic Valley Pipe & Steel Midgets would be next for their main event.  The green flag flew and fireworks happened right away.  Sid McElreath was in the wall coming out of turn 4, Justin Jensen and Devin Westover was in the wall in turn 1.  Red flag would fly and all drivers would be ok.  Unfortunately McElreath and Jensen would find the hook with Westover able to rejoin the race.  Green flag came back out Natalie Waters would assume the lead as Kylie Ith, Anthony Quintana, Chuck Groat, and Chaz Groat would run in that order nose to tail.  Quintana and Chuck Groat would be able to get by Ith and move up in the running order.  The top 5 would still remain nose to tail displaying some of the best midget racing all year.  Chuck Groat would catch a lapped car at the wrong time and fell from 3rd back to 5th.  Up front it was still Waters and as she caught a lapped car in turns 3 and 4, she spun to the grass bringing out the caution.  This would hand the lead over to Quintana when they went back to green.  Chaz Groat would now challenge Quintana for the top spot.  Groat would look high and low in the remaining laps but it wouldn’t be enough as Quintana drove it to victory on this night.

The final main event of the night saw the Sawtooth Auto Sale Hornets facing a different challenge than usual……….water.   Zach Rydalch would grab the lead early but Shelby Dalton would get by and be the leader at the end of lap 1.  Rydalch would slow on the frontstretch and would leave it to Brayden Sweatfield and Chad Everett to battle for second.  Everett would soon get by Sweatfield and start chasing down the leader Dalton.  Halfway through the race, the sprinklers came on and drenched the frontstretch giving the drivers another hurdle to leap over before it was over.  Leader Dalton would find the water tough going as she spun in turn 2 from a slick frontstretch and turn 1 bringing out the caution.  That handed the lead over to Everett as he was able to navigate through the water with no issues and drive it to victory lane once again in 2019.

This Saturday night is Bud Light Night!  The Bud Modifieds return to action for double main events along with the Cactus Pete’s Streets, Project Filter Bombers, Quale’s Electronics Jr Stingers, and the Extreme Staffing & Payroll Double Deckers.  Gates open at 5pm with Nascar racing at 7pm.  Get there early and always bring a friend!  We will see you this Saturday at the fastest track in all of Idaho………….Magic Valley Speedway!!!
