More champions are crowned and Mike Miller concludes the year with a $1000 trailer race of destruction victory!!!

It was sweatshirt weather as the feeling of fall started to set in on Quale’s Electronics night.  We crowned more champions and topped it off with a Quale’s Electronics Trailer Race of Destruction in front of another huge crowd!

The Quale’s Electronics Jr Stingers kicked things off with their first main event of the night.  Polesitter Malaki Juarez led the field early, a lead that he would never relinquish throughout the race.  Behind him, Brayden Sweatfield would make some daring moves to claw his way through the pack to battle Adam Johnson for second place.  The pair would try to track down leader Juarez but the deficit was too much.  Not even lapped traffic could keep Juarez from putting his car into victory lane.  A popular win for Juarez as he has come close to victory during the season.

The Northwest Tour Truck Series would end their season last Saturday night at Magic Valley Speedway with a pair of 40 lap main events.  The first main event took the green with first time truck driver, Cheyenne Torgerson, leading the field from his front row starting spot.  Torgerson would be impressive in this one as he lead most of the race.  Points leader John Wong would climb his way into second as the two tried to run away from the rest of the field.  Behind them, some great side by side racing was happening throughout the field.  Daniel Shirley, Drew Reitsma, and quick qualifier Kyle Tellstrom in the Newhouse #26 broke free from the traffic and soon reeled in the top 2 making it a 5 truck race for the top spot.  Wong running second at the time knew it was time to drop hammer and started challenging Torgerson for the lead.  The two traded paint for a couple of laps until they got a little too close to each other in turn 2 sending Torgerson, Wong, and Shirley for a spin.  Reitsma and Tellstrom took evasive action getting around all 3 spinning trucks.  Torgerson and Shirley was able to restart at the front of the field with Wong getting sent to the back.  Green flag racing resumed once again and the battle was now between Torgerson and Shirley for the number one spot.  Tellstrom also stuck his nose in the mix making it now a three truck battle for the lead.  Fireworks at the front of the field happened again as this time Torgerson and Shirley made contact coming out of turn 4 sending Torgerson for another spin and Shirley leap frogging over the front of Torgerson’s truck.  Tellstrom would get a piece of the action and Tanner Wong would come sliding for a spin through the middle.  Torgerson would end this race by driving to the pits, Shirley’s truck would require a hook, and Tellstrom only had right front fender damage.  Tellstrom was now the leader on the final restart and was able to hold onto that lead claiming victory in his first ever truck start at his first ever visit to Magic Valley Speedway.

The Quale’s Electronics Jr Stingers were out once again for their second main event of the night.  Polesitter Kristopher McKean led this one early on with Kaethyn Gilligan staying close to McKean’s rear bumper.  Sweatfield and Juarez caught the top 2 as all four cars were now running nose to tail.  Nobody in that group could improve their position and when the checkers flew, Kristopher McKean once again grabbed a main event win.  Brayden Sweatfield was crowned the second half 2019 Quale’s Electronics Jr Stinger champion.

The Project Filter Bombers were up next with Brandon Adams grabbing the lead at the drop of the green.  Craig McCann challenged Adams for the lead through turns 1 and 2 but got loose opening the door for Danny Gilliam to get by and while Gilliam was at it, he also got by Adams for the lead soon after that.  Adams and McCann would not let Gilliam run away with it as the three bombers were running in close formation.  At one point, Adams challenged Gilliam on the high side to try to regain the top spot.  Gilliam found a way to start pulling away from the other two and at the checkered flag, Gilliam would add to his impressive win total and Craig McCann was crowned the 2019 Project Filter Bomber champion.

The Cactus Pete’s Streets approached the track for their main event.  Mike Miller led the first lap but Ron McClimans was next to assume the lead.  A fast closing Levi Rider was now on the rear bumper of McClimans for the lead as the two ran that way until 5 laps to go and Rider found the opening he needed to get by and grab another main event win.  Rider would close out a successful season with numerous main event wins and Mitch Pehrson would also close out a successful season as your 2019 Cactus Pete’s Streets champion.

The Sawtooth Auto Sales Hornets were out next for their final main event of the year.  The trio of Chad Everett, Shelby Dalton, and Peggy Dean took the green flag.  Everett led early until his car started to slow and that handed the lead over to Shelby Dalton.  From there, Dalton would cruise to victory and earn the 2019 Sawtooth Auto Sales Hornets championship.  This is her second consecutive championship in the hornet division.

The Northwest Tour Truck Series rolled onto the speedway for their second main event of the evening.  Polesitter Parker Jones would lead the first few laps until Tanner Wong took Jones on the inside and become the 2nd leader of the race.  Drew Reitsma from mid pack was picking them off one truck at a time and got by Wong for the lead.  From there, Reitsma started to stretch out his lead over the rest of the pack.  The battle was on for second between Jerry Rice and Kyle Tellstrom.  The two ran side by side for many laps until Tellstrom could take sole possession of the runner up spot.  At this time, Reitsma started to catch lapped traffic and Tellstrom was closing fast.  As the white flag flew, Tellstrom was within four truck lengths of leader Reitsma and was still closing.  Coming down for the checkered, Reitsma was able to edge out Tellstrom for the win by a half of a truck length.  A great way to close out the year by running the main event caution free. John Wong was crowned the 2019 Northwest Tour Truck Champion and Jenna Quale was crowned the 2019 Rookie of the Year.

The crowd stuck around for one more event, the Quale’s Electronics Trailer Race of Destruction.  A good field of cars and trucks towing boats and a camper took to the track slamming into each other as they circled the 1/3 mile oval.  At times the action brought the crowd to their feet.  One of the more popular events at the speedway every year and this one did not disappoint.  The field took the white flag while they were still slamming boats into each other.  The checkered flag flew and Mike Miller towing the camper won the $1000 payday after the fans voted him as the winner.

Magic Valley Speedway wants to congratulate all of the champions in 2019.  We will officially crown each champion and recognize many drivers on Championship Banquet Night at Cactus Pete’s Resort & Casino in Jackpot, NV on Saturday November 2nd at 6pm.  Please keep checking the website and Facebook page for updates during the offseason and the release of the 2020 racing schedule.  Thank you the fans, drivers, teams, and sponsors for supporting Magic Valley Speedway in 2019!! We want to wish everyone a happy holiday season and be ready as we drop the green flag on the 2020 racing season in April!!
